Compact Living Digest is an independent editorial website focused on helping people make smaller homes work better.
That might mean finding storage in a kitchen without a pantry, choosing furniture that doesn’t overwhelm a small living room, making better use of an awkward corner, or figuring out whether a product that looks good online will actually make sense once it arrives.
The focus is practical. Good small-space living isn’t about cramming something into every available inch or getting rid of everything you own. It’s about making thoughtful decisions about the space you have.
Compact Living Digest covers storage and organization, space-saving furniture, small kitchens and bathrooms, decorating, apartment and small-home living, buying guides, and products that can solve specific problems.
The goal is to explain not only what might work, but why it works, where it makes sense, and what the tradeoffs are.
Why Compact Living Digest Exists
Compact Living Digest began with several ideas coming together.
Its Founder & Publisher has an interest in interior design and saw an opportunity to create a genuinely useful resource for people living in smaller spaces. There was also a business opportunity: many of the problems associated with compact living can be solved with furniture, storage products, organizers, and other products that lend themselves naturally to affiliate-supported content.
But there was another reason for creating the site.
Compact Living Digest is also an experiment in what can be accomplished with generative and agentic AI when the technology is given the right structure, planning, prompting, editorial standards, and human oversight.
The question isn’t simply whether AI can produce a lot of content.
It can.
The more interesting question is whether AI can be part of a system that produces content people actually find useful, credible, readable, and worth returning to.
That is what Compact Living Digest is testing.
How AI Is Used
Artificial intelligence is built into the Compact Living Digest publishing process.
AI may assist with topic development, research, article outlines, initial drafts, editing, product comparisons, Pinterest content, image generation, and internal linking.
Human judgment remains part of the process. The Founder & Publisher is involved in editing, product selection, and reviewing AI-created material before it is published.
The goal isn’t to hide the use of AI or pretend that an AI-assisted article was produced in a traditional newsroom.
It is also not to make AI the reason someone should read the site.
The finished article still has to earn its place by being useful.

Alex is the AI Editor for Compact Living Digest.
Alex is an editorial persona powered by a large language model. Alex assists with research, article development, product comparisons, editing, and other parts of the Compact Living Digest content process.
Alex is not a human contributor and does not have a fictional human biography. There is no invented home, design degree, career history, family, or personal experience with the products discussed on the site.
The name simply gives the AI editorial system a consistent identity.
Alex’s editorial approach follows the Compact Living Digest house style: practical, conversational, direct, specific, and skeptical of solutions that sound better than they work.

The site brings those interests together with experience in digital publishing and the practical goal of building a sustainable affiliate-supported publication.
As Founder & Publisher, Jerry is responsible for the overall direction of Compact Living Digest, including editorial decisions, product selection, editing, and review of AI-created material.
